w/ Cara Luneau
This workshop is designed as an introduction to monotype printmaking. Using Akua nontoxic, water-soluble inks and mixed-media elements, participants will learn the basics. Demonstrations will include additive and subtractive methods as well as the use of stencils, chine colle, collage, layering, working with ghost images, and plate and paper registration. Incorporating mixed-media elements such as watercolor crayons, pastels, and drawings will be encouraged. Each participant will have lots of work time and the opportunity to play, experiment and go home with a portfolio of original prints. All prints will be hand pulled with a pin press or made with a small etching press.
Most materials will be provided – inks, additives, stencil material, plates, tools, cleaning supplies, and much more. There will be a short materials list for participants as well.
Instructor: Cara Luneau’s statement:
As a painter, I experienced a printmaking revelation a few years ago in Mexico. Since that time, I have become immersed in printmaking studio work with the help of several master printers. With a background in painting and drawing I presently work in monotype, painting, collage, and as the founder, administrator, and host of Art Workshops Boulder. I studied drawing and painting as an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire and have continued studies with numerous wonderful and gifted artists in workshops and privately.
Full cost of this workshop is $350. A 50% deposit is required to hold a spot. Refund policies can be found on this website. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or to register.
